What is contract freedom?

Contract freedom means you can terminate your service at any time. However, if you terminate or downgrade your current plan, or change to another rate plan before your commitment period expires, the following will apply:

 

  • For customers who have paid the upfront payment (not entitled to the upfront payment waiver), your remaining monthly rebate subsidy will be forfeited.
  • For customers who are entitled to the upfront payment waiver, you will be required to refund the balance of the device subsidy amount (upfront payment). The device subsidy balance will be calculated as per the following:
  • Subsidy amount (upfront payment) / commitment period x remaining number of months. The remaining number of months will include the month during which you terminated the service.
  • For example, if you have subscribed to a U Postpaid 98 plan with any device, and you terminate on the 7th month, you are required to refund RM600 / 24 months x 18 months = RM450.
Can I use Easy Payment Plan (EPP) to pay for my U SaveMore device in instalments?

Yes, you can make payment instalments via Easy Payment Plan (EPP) with no additional fees and 0% interest rate for your U SaveMore device subscription. This payment method allows you to make a transaction with your credit card, then you will need to repay the transaction amount via instalments over the period of your chosen bank’s instalment tenure.

What is U PayLater? 

Subscribers who are eligible to sign up for U PayLater plan can choose to pay for a device on a monthly instalment basis with no interest charges.

What do I need to do in order to sign up for U PayLater?

U PayLater offer is open to existing Postpaid U Mobile subscribers. Subject to eligibility.

How many times can a subscriber sign up with U PayLater? 

Eligible subscribers are entitled to one (1) U PayLater sign-up with one (1) NRIC. Any subsequent sign-ups with U PayLater under the same NRIC are not permitted.

Which rate plans are available for U PayLater sign-up?

U PayLater sign-up is available to U Mobile customers with the U Postpaid 68, U Postpaid 98, U Postpaid Borneo 68 or U Family 128 plans.

I am currently on a Postpaid plan with an active contract. Can I sign up for U PayLater? 

The existing rate plan will be terminated as it is still bonded to an active contract. The subscriber will be liable for any charges, he or she must settle all outstanding charges under the existing rate plan before the subscriber can proceed to sign up for U PayLater.

What kind of savings am I looking at when I buy any Apple iPhone model with U PayLater? 

Subscribers will enjoy attractive savings from low instalment payments as the total amount paid throughout the tenure is still much lower than the RRP price of phone model upon signing up for U PayLater. Furthermore, subscribers will be enjoying a 0% interest-free instalment payment throughout the instalment tenure.

What if I cancel my U PayLater, terminate my line with U Mobile or if I want to make a full settlement a few months after signing up for U PayLater? 

There is no additional penalty fee if a subscriber wishes to terminate U PayLater, U Mobile line termination or early settlement for U PayLater. To do so, the subscriber needs to make a payment to pay off  the remaining device balance, which is equivalent to the device selling price minus the total instalment fees paid so far.

 

Example: U Mobile Selling Price for Apple iPhone 13 128GB: RM3,899

 

Termination on Month 7 (You'll have been billed 8 times for device instalment) RM 3,899 – RM1,000 (RM125 x 8 instalments billed) = RM2,899 (Remaining device instalment balance amount to be paid off).

 

Remarks:

  • The U Mobile Selling Price is not the same as the total monthly instalment price (RM125 x 24 months = RM 3000).
  • If a subscriber wishes to terminate U PayLater, U Mobile will base the calculation on the U Mobile Selling Price. In this case, it will be RM3,899.
Can I trade in my phone and get a discount for a new phone when I sign up for U PayLater? 

Unfortunately, device trade-ins are not applicable during a U PayLater sign-up.

What is the U Mobile Trade-In service?

You can trade in your devices such as phones or tablets for cash with U Mobile. The money will be sent to your preferred bank account. This service is provided in partnership with bolttech.

Who can trade in devices with U Mobile?

Malaysians and permanent residents aged 18 and above can Trade in at any U Mobile store , find store or through the U Mobile Trade-In Portal.​

How is my device’s trade-in value decided, and can I negotiate?

Your device’s trade-in value is determined using bolttech’s tool, which looks at factors like condition, screen, cameras, and battery. The value is final and cannot be negotiated. 

What happens after I have agreed to the trade-in value?
  1. Backup & Reset: Before handing over your device, back up your data, turn off tracking features (like Find My iPhone or Find My Device), and perform a factory reset. 

  2. Fill In Details: Make sure you enter banking and other required details correctly. Once you have submitted the Trade-In form, you can't change any details, including banking information. Kindly double-check all information before submitting. 

  3. Hand Over Your Device: Once you have handed over your device, the trade-in process is finalised and can’t be reversed. Remember to back up all important data before handing it over as it cannot be retrieved afterwards.
      
  4. Receive a Confirmation Email: After handing in your device, you’ll get an acknowledgment email from umobile.tradein@bolttech.my as proof of your transaction. This email will include your information and the trade-in details.
What if I do not receive payment within 2 business days?

In-store trade-in: Payment within 2 business days from device handover to our frontliner.​

Online trade-in: Payment within 2 business days from the day you receive a call from bolttech, +60166999724.​

What happens if I don’t respond to Bolttech’s email, call, or WhatsApp during the online trade-in process?

Bolttech will attempt to confirm your final trade-in value via call and WhatsApp (up to 3 times). If there’s still no response, your device will be returned to the address you provided.

Who covers the logistics cost if my device is returned in the online trade-in process?​

Bolttech will cover the return logistics cost.

How long does it take for my device to be returned if the online trade-in is unsuccessful?​

Your device will be returned within 2–4 business days.

What is the U Mobile Device Care Program?

U Mobile Device Care lets you swap your protected device at any time, as long as it’s in your possession and not lost or stolen. No proof of damage is required.

Who can join, and what are covered?

All U Mobile Postpaid mass and Enterprise subscribers who purchase a new device with U SaveMore or U PayLater can sign up for Device Care within 30 days of their contract start date. This applies to devices bought from August 2025 onwards.

I bought a device with U Mobile earlier. Why am I unable to join?

Device Care is only for new sign-ups from August 2025. But do not worry as we are working on something for existing customers too. Stay tuned!

2. Subscription & Billing

How do I sign up?

Step 1: Purchase any device with U PayLater or U SaveMore. 
Step 2: Pair it with a Device Care plan within 30 days of your purchase via MyUMobile App. 
Step 3: Request a swap anytime at Device Care Service Portal umobile.devicecare.bolttech.my.

 

Where can I subscribe, and when will my subscription start?

Subscribe at any U Mobile store, MyUMobile App or Online Store. Your may check the subscription details via the MyUMobile App.

 

How long is the subscription and how will I be charged?

Device Care is a monthly subscription that auto-renews and will be billed directly to your U Mobile account.

 

What are the fees for U Mobile Device Care? 

You will pay:

  • A monthly subscription fee (charged to your U Mobile bill). 
  • A service fee (paid directly to Bolttech when you request a swap which cannot be charged to your U Mobile postpaid bill). 

 

What is the monthly subscription fee? 

It is based on your device’s recommended retail price (RRP) at the time of purchase. Kindly refer to the price list here.

 

Are there any promotions for new subscribers?

Yes! Enjoy the first 3 months free when you sign-up. Your monthly charges will begin from the 4th month onwards.

 

Is the fee prorated if I subscribe mid-bill cycle?

No, the full monthly fee applies from your sign-up date.

3. Device Swap Service

Where do I submit a Service Request?

You can make a Service Request anytime via the Device Care Service Portal at: umobile.devicecare.bolttech.my.

 

Can I request a service during the free trial?

Yes! You can swap your device anytime. No questions asked.

 

Is there a grace period after sign up? 

No, your benefits are available immediately upon activation.

 

Do I need to return the box and accessories for a swap?

No, you only need to return the device. The box, cables, earphones, and other accessories aren’t required.

 

What are my swap options? 

The options below are subject to stock availability:

  • Like for Identical: Same model, same colour
  • Like for Like: Same model, different colour
  • Like for Similar: Different brand or model, within the same generation and device original RRP (recommended retail price) at the time of device launch.

 

How many service requests can I make within 12-month period?

You can request up to 2 swaps within any continuous 12-month period. 

4. Service Request Fees & Payment

How do I pay for a service request?

Make your payment before submitting the request. You can choose from the following methods: 

  • Credit/ Debit Card 
  • FPX 
  • Manual bank transfer 

 

Do I need to show proof of payment?

Only if you pay manually. Please email your proof of payment to the Bolttech email: umobile.devicecare@bolttech.my.

5. Service Request Process & Timelines

How do I request for a swap? 

  1. Submit your swap request at Device Care Service Portal: umobile.devicecare.bolttech.my.  
  2. Pay the service fee.
  3. Wait for your swap device to be delivered.

 

What happens after my service request is approved?

  1. Ensure your device is registered and subscription is active.​
  2. Back up and wipe your device.​
  3. If applicable to your device, remove SIM, disable “Find My Phone” and screen lock. ​
  4. Hand over your device to the courier upon delivery.

 

Who handles pick-up and return? 

Bolttech manages all logistics, including device pick-up and delivery. Timelines range from 6 business hours to 5 business days, depending on your location.

 

Will I receive a new device for swap?  

Swapped devices may be brand-new or refurbished subject to availability and:

  • Without accessories;
  • May contain parts from either the Original Equipment Manufacturer or from other manufacturers; and/or
  • Are packaged as “Not for Resale”.

 

6. Warranty

Is there a warranty on swapped devices?​

Device provided through a service request come with a warranty, starting from the day you received your device

  • Swap: 12-month warranty for defects.
  • Warranty starts the day you receive the device.

 

Will I receive confirmation of my request?

Yes, you’ll receive a confirmation email from Bolttech (umobile.devicecare@bolttech.my). You can also check your request status on the Device Care Service Portal umobile.devicecare.bolttech.my.

8. Termination

Can I transfer my Device Care plan to another owner?

No, the subscription will be cancelled if the device ownership is transferred.

 

Can I cancel my subscription? 

Yes, you can cancel anytime with no penalty.

 

Will my subscription terminate if my line is barred or suspended?

No, your subscription will remain active unless you choose to opt out or your line is permanently terminated.

 

Are there any cancellation fees?

No, there are no penalty fees for cancellation.

 

Can I reactivate my subscription after cancellation?

No, once cancelled, the same device IMEI cannot be reactivated as per the Device Care Terms & Conditions.

 

How do I cancel my U Mobile Device Care subscription?
